- I admit to being an anti-Aldi's snob in the past. But my then boyfriend (now husband) convinced me to give them a shot and most all of their stuff is just like the national brands. They are also owned by the same company as Trader Joe's.

- That's assuming one has a car. Or a license. Having a car in Chicago is crazy expensive. You have to pay for the city sticker and sometimes you have to buy parking. And then you have to pay up the nose for parking downtown if you work downtown.

- I went outside for lunch today. A short walk to the end of the block. Maybe 5 minutes tops. And in that five minutes I just got so mad about it being so hot. The sun is punishing and relentless, the wind is just blowing around 103 degree air for no relief at all.

- It drives me bonkers when everyone thinks this is mostly black on black violence. Its gang on gang violence. I live in Albany Park, where the guy got shot in the face. Its really quite a nice neighborhood. Ethnically diverse, convenient to transit and expressways and usually quiet.

- I have a Kindle fire and I love it. I've gotten into a lot of authors because I got the first book in a series for free or $0.99. Having said that.. I still buy traditional books. There are some book series and authors I love so much that I have their books. In hardback no less.
